18

One day a long time ago
I watched a brown tree grow and
I never felt as alive
I never felt as alive than

When watched I children go
blueinkstained hands and paper bags
as went they to learn
fill the schools
empty mother's arms

many days I passed that year
many nights were starlit as the fear
that clutched at dreaming heart
fell away in lover's arms
fell away in loving arms

so sing of spring don't lose your way
for the fall
the end of days is near
but stay
try
trust in love
hope
the light will hold you up though

Darkness is a bitter pill but
blinding blackness holds no chill
for we are more than fading green
we will grow till birth of spring again
